Learning Breathing Strategies

During our assembly this week, we met with our K - 3 students to learn more about our inquiry question: What does the Green Zone look like when we play? We know that it can be hard sometimes for children to share, take turns, and make safe choices when playing on the playground. We talked about rules on the playground (up the ladder, down the slide), and strategies that we can all use to calm our minds and bodies when we might be feeling upset. One strategy we often use at DeBeck is called ‘Five Finger Breathing’ where we inhale and exhale slowly while tracing one finger around our hand. You can try this one at home as well!
